Sonic Youth front man Thurston Moore is the voice narrating 'Inside Straight Edge', a documentary on, you guessed it, straight edge culture and lifestyle.
The documentary premiered in the USA last night on the National Geographic Channel, who apparently managed to stop showing lions chasing gazelles in Africa for just enough time to let the sXe'rs have their time to shine.For those of you unfamiliar with what it means to be Edge, it's a movement that started in the early 80s in Washington D.C. by Minor Threat (in fact, their song 'Straight Edge' pretty much sums up all you need to know) that spread around the world and teaches kids to reject drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and even casual sex (apparently loading your skin with tattoo ink is ok though).
In parts of America these people have been officially recognised as a "dangerous gang", despite the fact that they preach healthy lifestyle alternatives and individuality.
This is a nice addition to Moore's film career. Recently he wrote the score to an adult film as well.
