REM's much hypes return to rock record 'Accelerate' has generated first week sales of around 110,000 in the USA. That was good enough for them to land at number two.
REM had hoped to reclaim some of their former fame with 'Accelerate' but George Strait's 'Troubadour' album blocked them out of number one by almost 60,000 units.The only other Top 10 debut for the US this week will be Trina's 'Still Da Baddest' with sales of around 43,000, according to Hits Daily Double.
Van Morrison returns to the chart with 'Keep It Simple' selling about 35,000. The Stones won't make the top 10 with 'Shine A Light'. The album sold around 32,000 units in week one.
The long overdue release of George Michael's 'Twenty-Five' was good for 31,000 sales. The album was released everywhere else in the world in 2006.
Sevendust will debut top 20 with 'Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow' with about 27,000 sales.
Theory of a Deaman 'Scars & Souvenirs' and Moby's 'Last Night' both did around 21,000 units for a Top 30 debut. Black Keys 'Attack and Release' may also scrap into the top 30 after selling around 29,000.
