iTunes is now the biggest music store in the USA, coming in over Wal-Mart.
iTunes now sells more music than any other retail chain in the USA.It has 50 million customers and has sold over 4 billion songs from its global catalogue of 6 million tunes, and all that in only 5 years.
"We launched iTunes less than five years ago, and it has now become the number one music retailer in the world," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "We are thrilled, and would like to thank all of our customers for helping us reach this incredible milestone."
To even the statistics, the NPD Group who monitor sales, count a single CD album sale as the same as 12 iTunes downloads.
iTunes officially became the number one music store in America based on sales in January and February 2008.
