Lou Reed turned up and performed at a Lou Reed Tribute Show at SXSW in Austin on Thursday.
Reed joined Moby on stage for a stunning version of his classic 'Walk On The Wild Side'.Moby had just performed the Velvet Underground's 'Femme Fatale' when he brought Lou onto the stage.
Lou Reed was the keynote speaker at SXSW this year. Earlier in the day, he gave his address at the Austin Convention Center.
Lou sat in conversation with producer Hal Wilmer and delivered a number of classic "lou-isms".
His best line was "I have a B.A. in dope, but a Ph.D. in soul".
When talking about punk music, Lou said that it will always be around when "the choice is that or jail".
Reed is in Austin to premiere his feature film 'Berlin'. The movie is the live concert version of his 70's album 'Berlin', the album that followed the hit record 'Transformer'.
When talking about his successes and failures, Lou said, "I released 'Walk On The Wild Side' and then fucked it up with 'Berlin'. 'Rock and Roll Animal' undid the damage. Then I did 'New York' and fucked it up again with 'Magic and Loss'.
When talking about songwriting, he said "I know people want to know how you write a song and I don't know. I want to know, too. If I could have done it I would have written 'Son on Wildside' and I'd own an island in the Caribbean'.
'Berlin' the movie will roll-out in cinemas soon.
