Jack Johnson may have scored somewhat of a record with his new album 'Sleep Through The Static'. While the album debuted at number one with 18,344 sales of both CDs and downloads, the download figure stand-alone would qualify for a Top 10 position.
'Sleep Through The Static' sold 2,195 downloads in Australia last week. That is enough to qualify for the number 9 spot ahead of Britney Spear's 'Blackout'.Johnson's album sold almost three times that of Leona Lewis 'Spirit' in the number two slot.
'Sleep Through The Static' also debuted at number one on the British charts on the weekend.
It was a quiet week for debut albums. Hot Chip 'Made In The Dark' surfaced at number 25; Lenny Kravitz 'It Is Time For A Revolution' had a disappointed entry at number 47 and Bobby Flynn 'Out Front' debuted at number 53.
