Bass player Jackie Orszaczky passed away on Sunday morning, after suffering from cancer.
Jackie was a well-known figure in the Australian music industry after having worked with The Whitlams, Grinspoon, You Am I, Hoodoo Gurus, Tim Finn, Savage Garden, Leonardo's Bride and Nikka Costa.He has produced for David Lane, Tibor Tatrai, The Millers Tale, Dave Ades, Peter O'Mara ad Carl Orr, as well as his partner Tina Harrod.
In 2003, Jackie produced Tina's debut album 'Shacked Up In Paradise'.
Jackie Orszaczky was born in Budapest, Hungry in 1948 and emigrated to Australia in 1974.
He became an in-demand session bass player for many Australia stars and appeared on hundreds of Australian recordings.
In Hungry, he was a star in his own rite and could pull crowds of up to 30,000 at his shows in Budapest.
In 1974, he played bass in Aussie band Bakery and later went on to be bandleader for Marcia Hines band.
He was due to perform at the Macquarie Hotel in Sydney on February 7.
His last album, 'Family Lore' by Jackie Orszaczky & The Grand Masters, was released through Vitamin Records in August 2007.
