Michelle Williams, Heath Ledger's former girlfriend and mother of his two year old daughter Matilda, has issued a statement following the death of the actor last week in New York.
In the statement, Michelle asks that people respect her privacy while she grieves."I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father," she said.
Williams and Ledger met during the filming of Brokeback Mountain. She played his wife in the movie.
"All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him," Michelle said.
Earlier this week, TV shows E! News and The Insider were reported to have paid more than $200,000 for footage of Ledger at a drug party. While the video did not show Ledger using drugs, it raised further questions about his association with illegal substances.
Both shows backed down from airing the footage and E News released this statement. "Out of respect for Heath Ledger's family, Entertainment Tonight and the Insider have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video that has been circulating in the world media."
The truth of the matter is that the shows really have no respect for anyone. The decision to back down was actually to save their relationships with other Hollywood stars who would boycott the shows if the Ledger footage was aired.
With the initial autopsy report proving inconclusive, the world awaits for the toxicity report which any day now may answer the question about what killed Heath Ledger.
