The Grammy Awards will go ahead despite the writers strike in the USA.
Grammy CEO Neil Portnow has been negotiating with the writers guide over the last few months on the basis that songwriters are writers too and that they are all fighting for the same cause. The argument seems to have paid off.
In a statement, Portnow says, "We are pleased with the decision made by the WGA today. In light of this, we are gratified that the 50th Annual Grammy Awards will focus solely on the great music, artists and charitable work resulting from our show. We look forward to unveiling the exciting lineup of artists who will give our worldwide audience one of the most memorable Grammy shows ever."
This year is a benchmark year for the Grammy Awards. It is the 50th year of the event.
The Grammy Awards will be held on February 10th.
