‘Beauty and the Beat’, the 1981 debut from The Go-Go’s is about to be reissued in a deluxe edition to mark the 30th anniversary of its release.
The album was a number one record in America and featured the hits ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ and ‘We Got The Beat’.
The Go-Go’s were Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Jane Weiden. The album was produced by Richard Gottehrer. It sold over 2 million copies in the USA.
‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ reached no. 2 in Australia and no. 20 in the USA while ‘We Got The Beat’ went to no. 2 in America and no. 29 in Australia.
The album was also a hit in Canada (number 2) but failed to chart in the UK.
EMI will reissue ‘Beauty and the Beat’ on May 27.
