The Fifth Court of Appeals in the USA has dismissed a case by an unknown songwriter claiming Beyonce stole her song and turned it into her global hit 'Baby Boy'.
Jennifer Armour took action against Beyonce for copyright infringement claiming that she submitted her song for appraisal by Beyonce's father and manager Matthew Knowles and that the singer later came out with a similar song called 'Bad Boy' credited under her own name. The court was satisfied by evidence showing that Beyonce's 'Bad Boy' was all but complete by the time Armour submitted her demo to Knowles.
The court then dismissed the case after no-one was reasonably able to argue that the two songs were similar
In response to the appellate court's decision, Beyonc?? said, "It's unfortunate that we had to endure this long legal process but I am hopeful this decision will allow all of us that were involved to finally move on."
