The first three artists to release in the US in 2008 are Radiohead, Sia and Kate Nash.
This week, Radiohead released their 7th studio album 'In Rainbows' on CD. The album was the newsworthy release of 2007 when the band released it initially as a download under a new business model allowing fans to pay whatever they wanted for the album. That isn't the case the case with the CD. You'll pay whatever the retailer wants to charge you for the disc. The R.R.P. is $13.98.Australia's Sia will release 'Some People Have Real Problems' on Starbuck's Hear Music label on January 10. Sia is one of the Aussie acts to watch in 2008. She has well and truly paid her dues via her previous indie releases and her stint as a vocalist for Zero 7. Sia is the definitely the female Beck when it comes to originality, which is a good thing as Beck does backing vocals of two of the tracks). Add 'Some People Have Real Problems' to your must-listen-to list immediately.
One of my favourite albums of 2007 was Kate Nash's 'Made of Bricks'. This one surfaced not long after Lily Allen made a name for herself. There is definitely a strong cross-over between the two acts, both is style and attitude. While the rest of the world got Kate Nash last year, the US market will be introduced to this unique English singer songwriter on January 8.
