Today music fans were set alight by a shoddy camera phone photo of a supposed Splendour in the Grass lineup supposedly displaying an unbelievable lineup.
The lineup, which included Kanye West, The Cure, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Paul Simon, M83, The Black Keys, The Grates, The Avalanches, Battles and Arctic Monkeys could easily be dismissed by looking at Arcade Fire’s tour dates, which include a date with U2 in Canada on July 30, which according to the poster would be the second day of the festival or the fact that The Avalanches and Battles are both in a state of suspended animation, or Paul Simon, seriously?
If that and the fact that tickets would have to be exorbitantly high to accommodate the appearance fees of all of these artists were not enough to convince you it’s bollocks, the festival quickly told people not to get their hopes up.
The festival said in a statement, “aside from the alleged artwork looking terrible at this point in time those speculating on [the] line up have got it way wrong.”
Splendour in the Grass will go ahead in 2011, but you’ll just have to wait and see who is playing.
