The Divinyls hit Melbourne's beautiful Forum Theatre over the weekend, playing a spectacular set of greatest hits.
"It's good to play a home town show," singer Chrissie Amphlett told the crowd, "well I'm from Geelong, that's close enough."From opening with 'Science Fiction', Amphlett's sassy self was in fine form and while the band didn't have the same electrifying performances of the early 80s, this show was thoroughly enjoyable.
The twin guitar attack from Charlie Owen and founding member Mark McEntee can only be described as perfect.
The ballsiest female in rock was in fine form on Saturday night pushing around bouncers and abruptly telling an audience member to "settle down"!
It was nice to see Amphlett and McEntee walk off stage together at the end with their arms around each other, almost laughing at the ludicrous arguments they had had over the years.
So while this show lacked the danger and excitement of their earlier performances, it was still great to see a piece of Australian music history play pieces of great Australian music.
