After only 5 weeks on the chart, the Eagles 'Long Road Out Of Eden' album has become the fifth biggest selling album of the year, so far. It is also considered the biggest selling country album of the year.
With just three more weeks of sales to be added to the annual tally, the Eagles US sales have exceeded 2 million units.The album debuted at number one on the Billboard chart with sales of 711,000 in the first week.
Although it has been sold exclusively through Wal-Mart, some US chains such as Virgin Megastores have bought stock either directly from Wal-Mart or from international suppliers to be a part of the success of the first studio album from the band in 28 years.
International sales sit at around 1.5 million units. The album has done more than 100,000 in the Australian market.
An deluxe edition of the album, featuring the bonus tracks 'Hole In The World' and 'Please Come Home For Christmas', is now also in stores.
