A statue of the late Bon Scott, the second singer for AC/DC, will be unveiled during the Aussie Rock Celebration Concert in Perth on February 24.
The concert will include former AC/DC members Dave Evans (the original lead singer) and Mark Evans (who was with the band for all of the great albums from 'TNT' to 'Let There Be Rock'.The show will also feature Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets, Noiseworksàand The Party Boys classic all star line up. Playing in The Party Boys will be Australia's two greatest rock guitarists Kevin Borich and Randall Waller, Angels drummer Buzz Bidstrup, original AC/DC lead singer, Dave Evans, Mondo Rock bass player, Paul Christie, co lead singer with Bon in the Valentines, Vince Lovegrove, Buffalo frontman Dave Tice and Mark Evans.
The statue was announced in December 2006. A concert was held to raise funds to honor the late Bon Scott, who died on February 19, 1980 at the age of 33.
Ronald Belford Scott was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland and moved to Australia with his family at age 6. He joined AC/DC in 1974, replacing Dave Evans who sang lead vocal on the band's first single and hit song 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl'. The track was re-recorded with Bon's vocal for the 'TNT' album.
Scott died in London after a big night of drinking. AC/DC decided to continue and within 5 months of Bon's death, they had recruited Brian Johnson as a replacement. The new band recorded 'Back In Black' as a tribute to Bon. The album is now one of the biggest selling albums of all-time.
