Tool have announced Australian tour dates in Melbourne and Sydney in January next year.
It has been five years since the band were last in Australia touring 'Lateralus' with many claiming they saw god when Tool hit the stage. The New York Times said of a recent show, "Video screens behind the band were synched to the split second for each song, showing abstract patterns and bald creatures doing obscurely creepy things involving slime and viscera. But the real show was in the musicianship: the interlocked parts, the snowballing dynamics, the way each episode of a song only contributed to its suspense... the way the music winds tighter and tighter before it explodes."
The official announcement promises shows to be added in Auckland, "Queensland", Adelaide and Perth, which together with the fact that these shows are put on by Big Day Out organisers Lees & West, gives credence to the rumour that the band will be headlining the 2007 festival.
The band play:
January 24 - Entertainment Centre, Sydney
January 31 - Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Tickets are on sale Friday August 25th through Ticketmaster.
