Michael Jackson has issued a statement to fans to thank them for their support and to update them on his progress with the new record.
In the letter dated October 9, 2007, Jackson writes:"TO MY FANS AROUND THE WORLD:
I would like to thank you for the beautiful cards, photographs, messages, videos, and gifts, sent to me on my birthday.
I was overwhelmed by your kindness.
Your continued love and support means so much to me. I really love and appreciate you all... from the bottom of my heart.
I've been really busy lately. Hopefully, you've all seen the results of my recent photo shoot with L'Uomo Vogue.
Soon, I will be sharing exciting and surprising news with you from my other efforts.
Please know again, that I love and appreciate each and every one of you, and send to you my heartfelt thanks and warm wishes".

Jackson moved to the Middle East after being found not guilty of children sex acts. He has occasionally returned to the USA.
Since May 2006, he has been working on a new record. Earlier this year, he recorded some tracks in Ireland with Black Eyed Peas will.i.am. Rodney Jerkins, who also worked with him on 'Thriller' is involved with the project as is Teddy Riley and Ron Feemster.
In January this year, Jackson was recording out of Las Vegas casino Caesars Palace, where he put in a temporary studio. Last month, he was working on the record out of New York's Clinton studio.
The Jackson record was initially planned for release this year. It is now expected in early 2008.
