Emo progenitors Jimmy Eat World release album number five.
While they weren't exactly Sunny Day Real Estate, Jimmy Eat World were certainly part of the clique that helped popularise emo in the late '90s. Their breakthrough album of 2001 'Bleed American' didn't exactly follow the emo template that they'd written on 1998's 'Clarity', but it was the first many had heard of the genre. Now that Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance dominate the charts, it might be time for Jimmy Eat World to reclaim that crumpled crown. After a 2005 tour with Green Day they headed back to their hometown in Arizona to write their fifth album 'Chase This Light'.
Recorded with Butch Vig of Garbage and Nirvana-producing fame, 'Chase This Light' once again showcases their love of a yearning, soaring stadium rock hook (a la Foo Fighters), while picking up some of their peers' electro tricks, utilising synths and drum machines.
'Chase This Light' will be released on October 13.
