Well, Rage Against the Machine is obviously one of the headline acts for Big Day Out 2008. Ahead of a BDO announcement, promoters Lees & West have let the cat out of the bag by announcing RATM shows for Sydney and Melbourne that straddle the BDO dates.
Rage Against The Machine will play the Sydney Entertainment Centre on January 22 and Melbourne's Festival Hall on January 30.Big Day Out is on in Sydney on January 24 and Melbourne on January 27.
Rage Against The Machine last played in Australia 11 years ago, also for the Big Day Out.
In 2000, the band split. Singer Zack de la Rocha started work on a solo album that is still to be released. Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford teamed up with new singer Chris Cornell and became Audioslave.
Audioslave split earlier this year and Zack rejoined the band. "It occurred to all of us that the times were right to see if we can knock the Bush administration out in one fell swoop, and we hope to do that job well... There is no action without reaction. And we're part of that reaction," Tom Morello told MTV.
Morello and de la Rocha played their first public show since the reunion on April 14, 2007. Rage Against The Machine played its first show at Coachella on April 29.
