50 Cent changes his tune now that Kanye looks like trumping 'Curtis'.
In the battle for hip hop supremacy, West's 'Graduation' looks like it will come out on top, if revised sales projections are anything to go by. And this has left 50 Cent in a predicament; he did say he'd cease releasing solo albums if Kanye won the first week Billboard battle.According to Billboard on Friday 'Graduation' leads with 781,000 units compared to 'Curtis' measly 603,000. Maybe 50 Cent fans' blue collar 9-5 day jobs have kept them away from stores, unlike Kanye fans who are presumably all music writers. This weekend's sales figures will decide whether we'll get to hear Fiddy compare his sex life to anything more than a candy shop and an amusement park.
The thuggish one gibbered to Billboard that it ain't over, via this heavily bracketed quote: "[The sales] can't be considered [any one way] anyway because it's just a few days out. I guess [the music industry] would consider me to be a hip-hop favorite because of my sales history, and people like to root for the underdog."
He also reneged on his promise to give up the solo game. He reportedly told New York's Hot 97 radio that he would match G-Unit releases with Def Jam's if Kanye came out on top. Undercover is seeking parties to join a class action against Fiddy for breach of his verbal contract.
