Wayne Nelson might own the name, but Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock and Graeham Goble will always be Little River Band.
The founding members of LRB are currently on tour with the Countdown Spectacular 2 shows around Australia, and there is no denying that the sound of LRB is wrapped up and locked inside those three guys.As Little River Band, Birtles, Shorrock and Goble are one of Australia's most successful international acts.
They have sold more than 30 million records and had 13 American Top 40 hits.
Graeham's song 'Reminiscing' is one of the most played songs ever on American radio.
Birtles, Shorrock, Goble gave the Countdown audience a sample of some of their massive hits including 'It's A Long Way There', 'Reminiscing', 'Every Day Of My Life', 'Curiosity Killed The Cat' and 'Help Is On Its Way'.
It was also interesting to see Beeb on stage, immediately followed by Rick Springfield. Before Beeb was in LRB and way before Rick met Jessie's Girl, Birtles and Springfield played together in Melbourne band Zoot. They had a number one hit in 1970 with a acid version of The Beatles 'Eleanor Rigby'.
In 2006, Beeb, Glenn and Graeham were inducted into the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their work as Little River Band.
