The Meredith Music Festival has announced the first phase of its 2007 line-up.
For the seventeenth installment of this now-legendary festival, widely regarded as the friendliest of the summer camp-outs, Meredith has a fine mix of local and international rock and electro.In a coup, they've snared ultra-hip Portland electro-clash act The Gossip, lead by the infamous and outspoken Beth Ditto. For rock and roll mayhem, Meredith bring Atlanta's The Black Lips to Australia for the first time. Now-regulars Clutch, from Maryland, bring their husky blues rock.
Crazed US party metal savant Andrew WK will appear in special solo mode (although we'll bet it won't be an acoustic ramble). West Kingston dancehall legend Junior Reid will bring his thumping beats to the bush. And London's neon indie rockers Art Brut join the party.
The cream of Australian artists will also appear, including garage rock sensations Eddy Current Suppression Ring, digital cult hero Gotye, white-hot indie house kid Muscles, sly R&B rockers Little Red, and intergalactic beatmakers Midnight Juggernauts.
