Despite news reports, Kanye West And 50 Cent won't debate the merits of their concurrent albums.
West said at the MTV Video Music Nominations, "When I heard that thing about the debate, I thought that was the stupidest thing. When my albums drops and 50's album drops, you're gonna get a lot of good music at the same time."But in typical gangsta style, 50 Cent has made a grand statement that we can only hope he'll back up: he'll quit his solo career if Kanye sells more records than he does. In a recent interview, Fiddy puffed up in the third person, saying, "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums."
West recently said, "It's more important for me to be involved in an event than to say I had a number one album." Although humility doesn't sell hip hop albums, hopefully West's quality songs and benevolent attitude beats out Fiddy's lame mumbles and grandstanding.
'Curtis' and 'Graduation' both debut on September 11.
