The biggest musical battle of 2007 has been fought this week between Kanye West and 50 Cent and the winner is ....
.... Kanye WestAccording to Nielsen SoundScan figures, Kanye's 'Graduation' slaughtered Fiddy's 'Curtis' with sales of 957,000 to 691,000.
According to Billboard.com, West also had the last record to sell more than 800,000 units in the first week when 'Late Registration' came in with sales of 860,000 units.
Fiddy was down on his last release. His last album 'The Massacre' sold 1.17 million units in the first week and was the last album to debut with more than 1 million units sold.
The two debuts also mark the first time since 1991 that the Top 2 albums sold more than 600,000 units. Guns 'n' Roses did it in September 1991 when 'Use Your Illusion 2' topped the chart with sales of 770,000 and 'Use Your Illusion 1' came in at No. 2 with 685,000 sales.
Elsewhere around the world, 50 Cent 'Curtis' debuted at number one in Australia and Ireland but Kanye West 'Graduation' grabbed topped spot in the UK.
