Legendary blues vocalist Etta James is in a stable condition in a Los Angeles hospital after suffering complications from abdominal surgery last month.
The 69-year-old has been forced to cancel an upcoming tour with BB King and Al Green. She'll be replaced by Chaka Khan.As she recuperates at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the precise nature of her condition has not been revealed. Her manager, Lupe De Leon, described it only as "post-op complications" from June abdominal surgery.
De Leon went on to explain, "If it had been left solely up to her, she would have checked herself out of the hospital and started the tour regardless of her delicate health. However, her doctor advised that were she to do so, it would put her at very great risk.
"We feel confident (that) by postponing her participation until August 23, she will be in good shape to put on the kind of performance that Etta James' fans know and love."
