Four shows from the current Silverchair US tour have been moved to November on doctor's advice.
Daniel Johns gave an embarrassing performance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno earlier this week after he went through with the show, despite what is now reported to be laryngitis. The Leno show spot on Tuesday night was questionably the worst Silverchair performance ever, made all the more embarrassing by the 3.5 million viewers across America who witnessed the train-wreck.
It was an unfortunate decision by the band to go ahead with the show, especially as a press release issued today suggested that the condition was known before the show taping and could have avoided the embarrassment.
"Daniel caught the common viral infection of the throat earlier this week after flying Sydney/Los Angeles/Toronto/New York/Los Angeles over just four days. It severely impeded his vocal performance on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday", the statement read.
Silverchair needs to make good in the United States. There last album 'Diaroma' sunk without a trace Stateside. The new album 'Young Modern' is now only being released in America, despite core fans being able to buy the CD through Australian fulfillment sites for the last three months.
The San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Francisco gigs will now take place in mid-November at the same venues. New dates are as follows:
Anaheim - House Of Blues - Rescheduled for Wednesday November 14
San Diego - House Of Blues - Rescheduled for Friday November 16
San Francisco - The Independent - Rescheduled for Sunday November 18
Los Angeles - The Wiltern - Rescheduled for Tuesday November 20
