One of Australia's most success music entrepreneur's has been charged with tax evasion.
Glenn Wheatley this week faced court after 2 years of investigation for allegedly using a Swiss company for a tax minimisation scheme.Wheatley is alleged to have used the Swiss company to hide funds earned from a John Farnham concert tour and a Kostya Tszyu boxing match.
While charged with the crime, the Australian businessman and former bass player for the Masters Apprentices has been open after the charges, admitting to the crime, and blaming himself for not being more thorough in confirming advise given to him by a third party.
Mr Wheatley has always said that he was guilty for acting on the bad advice.
Two other prominent Australian's are said to be next in line for the charges. One is thought to be a famous international actor and another a famous cricket celebrity.
At yesterday's court appearance, QC Robert Richter called Wheatley "the trophy of the $300 million Wickenby tax investigation".
Mr Richter stated that Mr Wheatley had also been totally co-operative in dealing with authorities over the last two years on this matter.
He will be charged later.
