The MusicOz Awards return in 2007 to honour the nation's finest unsigned finds.
Known as "The Unsigned ARIAs", the MusicOz Awards celebrate the scores of independent acts around Australia doing it on their own. Launched in 2001, the awards have plucked unsigned acts from obscurity and helped launch them on a national stage. They've even helped acts along the way to get signed, including, including Blue King Brown, Sick Puppies, The Fumes, Porcelain, Bluejuice and more. Not only for independent acts, last year's awards ceremony featured performances and appearances from some of the big names in Australian music, including You Am I, The Whitlams, John Williamson, Sarah McLeod, and presentations from Richard Wilkins and Channel V's Jabba and Yumi Stynes.
Now MusicOz is requesting applications for the 2007 Awards. With an even bigger prize pool this year, plus support from industry heavyweights The National Nova radio network, Channel [V], The Country Music Channel , Street Press Australia, Faster Louder and more, it could be your chance to be the next big thing, or find your new favourite artist.
