Undercover has learned that the members of Matchbox Twenty are currently in the studio working on new music without (for the first time) producer Matt Serletic.
The sessions, currently taking place in Los Angeles, feature Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale.Original member Adam Gaynor left the band in January 2005. This is also the first new music for the band since Gaynor's departure.
Although it is unknown at the time of publication who the new producer is, Undercover has also heard that the new sound is tougher than previous Matchbox Twenty material, indicating that Paul Doucette may be having an influence on the new material.
The band is said to be working on four new songs, to be included on a greatest hits album to be released prior to Christmas.
The last Matchbox Twenty studio album was 'More Than You Think You Are' in 2002.
