Ash frontman Tim Wheeler was telling the truth when he announced at the Isle Of Wight festival that the band's next album will be their last - but they're not splitting up.
Responding to the rumour-mill, Wheeler said in a statement that Ash plan to concentrate on releasing individual songs in the digital format. Their upcoming, fifth full-length album - 'Twilight Of The Innocents' - will be their last CD album release."The way people listen to music has changed," Wheeler said. "With the advent of the download, the emphasis has reverted to single tracks. When you're tied to the album format, you find yourself waiting six months between finishing a record and releasing it. By leaving this behind we can enter a new phase of spontaneity and creativity."
He also left the door open for the release of physical CD singles as well as CD compilations of digital tracks.
Wheeler continued, "Our new album is the pinnacle of everything we've done thus far, and I'm proud that this will be remembered as our last album."
'Twilight Of The Innocents' is released 2 July in the UK.
