Perth's dark country blues posse The Kill Devil Hills have planned a US and Canada jaunt.
The highly-regarded purveyors of brooding, ghostly country blues have had a sensational last six months. Their debut 'Heathen Songs' has got a release in Spain and their second album 'The Drought' has been roundly praised by critics. They scored a third consecutive WAMi for Best Blues/Roots Act. The Kill Devil Hills have also managed to snare supports with everyone from The Black Keys to The Pretenders and Paul Kelly. On the verge of their trip to Canada to take part in the North By Northwest music conference (in answer to Texas' South By Southwest) as well as dates in Detroit and Seattle from late May to mid-June, the band have planned three fundraising gigs around their stomping grounds.
They play Margaret River's Settler's Tavern with Felicity Groom on Friday May 25, Fremantle's Norfolk Basement with Fall Electric and WAMi Best Newcomer Award-winner Mink Mussel Creek on Saturday 26 May and a early evening show there on Sunday May 27 with Abbe May & the Rockin' Pneumonia and Kevin Smith & the Seven Storey Jumpers.
