Songwriter Kara DioGuardi has been named Songwriter of the Year at the 55th Annual Pop Awards in Los Angeles, sharing the award with Sean Garrett.
DioGuardi won her first Songwriter of the Year Crystal for "Real Thing" (Bo Bice), "Walk Away" (Kelly Clarkson) and "I'm Feeling You" (Santana featuring The Wreckers).Her songwriting credentials include 'Rich Girl' for Gwen Stefani, 'Beep' for Pussycat Dolls, 'Spinning Around' for Kylie Minogue and 'Predictable' for Delta Goodrem.
Kara received her award at a reception held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel last night.
The Bee Gees were also named BMI Icons for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."
The award was accepted by Barry and Robin Gibb, and Yvonne Gibb, wife of the late Maurice Gibb.
