When you think about all the festivals that occur in the world over a period of 12 months, you know you have got to be an awesome festival when you are nominated twice for the Annual Pollstar Awards “International Festival of the Year” . Bluesfest is the only Australian festival to have invited the honor twice.
Previously nominated in 2005, the brand new nomination has brought a fresh surge of excitement to the Bluesfest office. In the same month that it is nominated amongst its international contemporaries and previous winners and nominees including Glastonbury [UK], Roskilde[Denmark], Fuji Rock[Japan], Rock AM RING [Germany], Oxegen [Ireland] and V Fest [UK], Bluesfest has been further recognised and acknowledged for its destinational qualities and environmental sensibilities.
“Although Bluesfest is all about the music, and what a line up 2013 will be; equally it’s also about the experience of coming to a sustainable environment and soaking up that special Byron vibe”, says Festival Director Peter Noble.
With the 2013 artist line up being touted as ‘the best ever line up in Australia’ punters get to tune into and witness some of the world’s best artists as well as take part in an environmentally conscious festival experience.
Recently Bluesfest has been internationally recognised and awarded a ‘commendation’ by the “A Greener Festival” award system [for the 2011/2012 season] as “a well-managed and environmentally aware festival” . More recently Bluesfest picked up the SILVER Award in the ‘Major Festival & Events’ category at the NSW Tourism Awards.
Bluesfest will know the result of their nomination for International Festival of The Year when the 24th Pollstar Awards ceremony takes place between the 5th and 7th of February 2013.
