Concern for the environment is reaching fever pitch, and the ever-lefty music scene in Australia is leading with way. Before mid-year we'll have a major national tour, a giant music festival and a whole album being carbon neutral.Noted hippy outfit John Butler Trio's August tour for their smash hit album 'Grand National' will be carbon neutral. All transportation and electricity will be taken into account and the band will offset the estimated emissions by reinvesting in renewable energy projects. Punters can even pay an extra 50 cents for their tickets to cover their travel to the concert.
This year's Splendour In The Grass Festival in notoriously green Byron Bay are also offering special tickets for an extra $3.50. If every single festival-goer buys the "green ticket", the whole festival's carbon footprint will be offset.
And ultimately, Sydney acoustic folk wanderer Athron's first solo full length 'Taming Butterflies' is purportedly this country's first certified carbon neutral album. He has offset the emissions involved in recording, production, distribution and marketing the album, which is due out on May 19.
