Metal demigods Spinal Tap have announced they are reforming as part of the battle against global warming.
The mock metallers have kept a low profile since their 1992 album 'Break Like The Wind', but will return to the public spotlight to raise global warming awareness, playing the Live Earth concert in London on July 7.Rob Reiner, who directed the 1984 mockumentary 'This Is Spinal Tap', explained that the band were "not that environmentally conscious, but they've heard of global warming."
Reiner will reprise his role as filmmaker Marty DeBergi for a new 15-minute short film which will play at New York's Tribeca Film Festival. The film, simply titled 'Spinal Tap', outlines the band's long history of charity work, which includes the feeding of Caesar Salad to starving ferrets and helping people cursed with high insteps.
Spinal Tap will also release a new single as part of their environmental mission. Titled 'Warmer Than Hell', the new tune features the lyrics, "The devil went to Devon, it felt like the fourth degree / He said, 'Is it hot in here, or is it only me?'"
