A previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix song is going to auction.
Ocean Tomo, LLC claims to own the song and is going to auction it in New York City on October 26th.The track called 'Station Break' is alleged to have been recorded before Hendrix became famous.
It is said be have been co-written by Jerry Simon, now President of R.S.V.P. music and recorded at the Allegro Sound studio in New York City.
Simon is said to have come across the master tape in his closet in 1994.
The successful bidder will release the original reel-to-reel, ?? ownership of the recording, the right to remaster the recording, the right to issue a non-exclusive license to the sound recording, the right to receive half of the royalties generated by the recording and the right to half of the public performances rights. (The other half of the rights are owned by the Hendrix estate).
As to why the recording was "lost" for so long, Jerry Simon simply says "It just slipped through the cracks".
