The shortlist for this year's Ivor Novello songwriting awards has been revealed, with Arctic Monkeys, Hot Chip and Amy Winehouse all in the running.
Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner is up for the prestigious 'Best Song Musically & Lyrically' prize for penning his band's tune 'When The Sun Goes Down'. He's up against Scott Matthews for 'Elusive' and Nerina Pallot for 'Sophia'.The loveably geeky production duo Hot Chip have been nominated in the 'Best Contemporary Song' category for their infectious summer hit 'Over And Over', along with Winehouse who gets a nod for 'Rehab'. This category is rounded out by Bodyrox ft Luciana for their tune 'Yeah Yeah'.
The 'International Hit Of The Year' prize will be fought out between three heavyweights, with Scissor Sisters 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin'', co-penned with Elton John, nominated alongside Robbie Williams (and myriad collaborators) for 'Rudebox' and Madonna (with Stuart Price) for 'Sorry'.
The full list of prize categories can be seen at the Ivor Novello website.
