Despite no line-up announcement for Sydney's Live Earth, acts have taken it upon themselves to be added.
There has been much speculation about which acts will perform on the Sydney leg of the global series of concerts to take place on July 7 this year. Wolfmother and John Butler Trio have taken it upon themselves to announce that they will perform at the event at Aussie Stadium. Now campfire surf-rocker Jack Johnson has told the Sydney Morning-Herald that he's been added to the bill. The Hawaiian-based singer-songwriter said, "New Jersey and Australia are about the same distance for me, but Australia's waves are a lot better, so that made the decision easy."
Other bands that have been mooted to play the Sydney event include the recently reformed Crowded House, a rare Midnight Oil performance and stadium pomp-rock heroes Silverchair. Publicists for the event deny that any act has been confirmed for the ten slots available. The official announcement is scheduled for May 8.
Artists confirmed for the Wembley Stadium leg include Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters and Bloc Party and artists for the Giants Stadium leg include Akon, Bon Jovi, Kanye West and The Police.
