'So I Am', the debut album from the late Belinda Emmett will be released on April 28.
The 32 year old Australian actor and singer lost an 8 year battle with breast cancer in November last year. For the previous 6 years, Belinda had been working on the album and in 2005, set up the label Hooch Records for the release.
Between 2000 and 2006, she worked on the songs with former Southern Sons songwriter Phil Buckle and Andrew Furze.
'So I Am' was recorded at Phil's Melbourne studio and produced by Daniel Denholm. Executive Producer for the project was Craig Campbell.
"For all of us involved with this project, there is an amazing sense of pride to have played a part in finally delivering So I Am," Campbell said in a statement. There is also a great sense of sadness that Belinda never got to hear her songs in such a wonderful completed state."
"This sadness is lessened by the knowledge that Belinda's heart and soul resonates throughout her album. Belinda's family and collaborators are sharing these songs now, in the certain knowledge that it will bring a smile to Belinda's face to know that her music is finally being heard."
Proceeds from the album will benefit the McGrath Foundation, the Australian charity that raises money to place more breast care nurses for women suffering from breast cancer. Following the passing of Belinda, more than $200,000 was donated by fans.
Hooch Records will release the album via Liberation Records for distribution across Australia by Warner Music.
