‘Predators’ is the first offering from Brisbane boy/girl electronic duo Golden Young. A bedroom project born out of an obsession with cheap drum machines and quality delay pedals, the dance floor-friendly sounds of the group’s first song are convincingly led by singer Emma Stewart’s smoke-laden vocal charm and demeanour.
Tracked in a friend’s home studio in the South East Queensland hinterland over a quiet weekend, the song is a proud if not unintentional homage to the fun of the 1980s; a time in which neither member of the group ever existed.
The song was not the first the duo tracked, however it was the unanimous choice for first release, with the remainder forming what’s set to be Golden Young’s forthcoming debut EP. Expect to see Golden Young front a full live band and enter the club circuit in 2013.
