Bob Starkie performs what he knows best - roots 50’s, 60’s and hits from The 'Hooks. UNMISSABLE! Feat. singer Laura Davidson, who sounds amazingly similar to Shirl
Skyhooks legend and ARIA hall of fame inductee Bob 'Bongo' Starkie will bring to the Flying Saucer Club on Sat 15th of June his reinvented Chuck Berry-esque guitar stylings with 50's and 60's rock plus selected songs by the ‘Hooks (with special guest singer Laura Davidson). Starkie will be taking it to another level with a whole set of Skyhooks tracks with new arrangements feat. sax, guitar and vocals – hear the Skyhooks you know with a twist!
The Skyhooks literally changed the face of Australian rock’n’roll in the 1970’s with numerous Number One and Top Ten singles to their credit as well as two of the biggest selling albums ever – “Living In The Seventies” and “Ego Is Not A Dirty Word”. In 1998 the guitarist from the engine room of the legendary ‘Skyhooks’ Bob was inducted into the Aria Hall Of Fame recognizing the significant contribution he and his fellow Skyhooks made to Australian live music. Moving to South America he picked up a Chuck Berry record in Brazil and learnt anew what he thought he had covered in the ‘Hooks - how to play solid 50’s/ 60’s guitar! Now he is re-emerging as a guitarist and in his show Bob will be playing what he knows best——’roots 50′s-60′s and hits from the ‘Hooks!
BOB ‘OL’SILVER’ STARKIE - guitar/vocs, LAURA ‘GRAEME’ DAVIDSON - very high vocs, STEVE WILLIAMS - sax, harp, vocs, ANDREW SCOTT - bass, SEAN MCLEOD - drums
They’ll leave you screaming for more!
