Mick Harvey’s ‘FOUR (Acts of Love’) out on Friday 26 April on Mute and will be the ex- Bad Seed and PJ Harvey collaborator’s sixth solo studio album.
The album’s launch goes after a string of dates and includes his first ever solo tour of New Zealand in March and two sold out shows in St Kilda, Melbourne.
‘FOUR (Acts of Love)’ is a contemplation on romantic love - it's loss, re-awakening, our ongoing struggles with it and its place in our universe. The album is a song cycle, divided into 3 Acts.
FOUR (Acts of Love) is Mick Harvey’s latest solo studio album following on from Sketches from the Book of the Dead. Celebrated for his career with The Birthday Party and being one of Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds Harvey is equally known for his soundtrack work on such films as Chopper, To Have And To Hold, Australian Rules.
Recorded at two of Melbourne’s well-known studios Grace Lane and Atlantis Sound the album features regular collaborators Rosie Westbrook on double bass and JP Shilo on guitar and violin.
The album features original compositions alongside Mercury prize-winner PJ Harvey and interpretations of The Saints’ ‘The Story of Love’, Van Morrison’s ‘The Way Young Lovers Do’, Exuma’s ‘Summertime in New York’ and Roy Orbison’s ‘Wild Hearts (Run Out of Time)’.
Mick also announced a performance of interpretations of Serge Gainsbourg’s music at ATP’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs curated I’ll Be Your Mirror on Saturday 4 May in London.
