The iconic Black Flag will ride again in a couple of different formats for a bunch of shows in 2013. The first version will be led by sole continuous member Greg Ginn, and may also release an album mid year.
If Black Flag are known for anything apart from their place as the innovators of hardcore punk it is for their ever changing lineups since their inception in 1976. The new look Black Flag includes previous member Ron Reyes on vox and Gregory Moore on drums. Reyes took over lead vocal duties after original lead singer Keith Morris quit the band to form the Circle Jerks. Interestingly Reyes also appeared in a v. early incarnation of Redd Kross.
More interestingly Keith Morris is reforming his own version of Black Flag with ex-members Chuck Dukowski on bass and Bill Stevenson on drums.
I guess it's up to fans to choose which period and version of Black Flag they wanna see? Ginn’s version of Black Flag will kick off proceedings in Hünxe, Germany on May 18 and will also play Hevy Fest the in the U.K plus a headlining spot at the Muddy Roots Fesitval in Tennessee. Morris' version of Black Flag are likely to play the European Summer and have also announced a show in Vegas on Memorial Day.
