The Pixies reveal that U2 frontman Bono asked them to make a new album.
Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering spoke to Spinner during their recent classic album tour.
Among other things, Spinner asked them the inevitable question about new music and Santigo revealed that Bono personally asked them to record again.
After being asked “whats next?”, Lovering joked, “We should be touring Bossanova by now, but that's not going to happen. We're gonna wear out our welcome soon enough. We gotta plan to make something new.”
Santiago added “That talk about making a record will be in the forefront next because it'll be time, you know. It'll be time. We've definitely gelled as a unit and hopefully when we can all bury the hatchet – and we have – maybe we'll go in there and hope for the best.”
He then said, “You know, Bono even asked. Remember that? He's like, ‘Please make a record!’ Goddamn, we can't leave that unturned. That would frustrate me. It would. I think we should do it. But it's up to everybody.”
Now all we have to do is wait for Kim Deal and Frank Black to join the party.
