The Falls Music & Arts Festival was presented as winner of the Qantas Award for Sustainable Tourism at last night’s Victorian Tourism Awards. The event was recognised above all other tourism operators in the state for their dedication to environmentally friendly practices, carbon footprint minimisation and sustainability management.
The Falls Music & Arts Festival has been a pioneer in event sustainability for many years, with a strong focus on innovating sustainable systems including recycling, waste composting, power minimisation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and engaging their many practices with their audiences. Receiving a ‘Highly Commended’ award from the 2012 International Greener Festival Awards, the event has taken many steps to ensure that it’s operating does not affect the pristine natural landscapes on which they host and consciously adds to the conservation of the area. Striving to become Australia’s greenest festival, Falls will now proceed the National Tourism Awards.
