Björk will debut songs from her forthcoming album during conceptual shows at the Manchester International Arts Festival.
Rolling Stone reports that the Icelandic experimentalist will present songs from her next album Biophilia across a series of concerts in Manchester from June 30 to July 16.
The performances will incorporate multimedia installations, performance art and even interactive mobile phone apps.
It will also include custom-built instruments, including programmed pipe organs, a "gamelan-celeste" hybrid (which would be a giant keyboard/xylophone/drum/percussion contraption) and a massive pendulum that creates music from the planet's gravitational pull.
She’s exploring the themes of the relationship between music, nature and technology.
Word is that the set-up will go on tour with her after Biophilia is released.
The album doesn’t have a release date but we can presume it will be released around the time of these shows.
