An art installation by respected local photographer Jay Hynes will bring AC/DC Lane alive again via his momentous photography, as he creatively revisits the CherryFest Music Festival hosted by Cherry Bar in the Laneway only a weekend ago.
Jay Hynes explains, “This is a continuation of my backstage photographic portrait series. Capturing bands immediately after their set, away from the lights, amp-stacks and drum-rises. Just the band as people. Once again the photographs will be printed on giant size street posters, exhibited down the length of the home of rock n’ roll and Cherry Bar, AC/DC Lane.”
The art installation and photographic exhibition is hosted along the length of AC/DC Lane from Friday 7 December until Sunday 16 December and is free to anybody wanting a peek. It is intended to inspire and exhilarate.
Cherry Bar co-owner and booker James Young says, “As the only business in AC/DC Lane Cherry Bar feels an obligation to contribute to and create the culture of this iconic Melbourne Laneway. We have organised for the normal street poster-ing to ‘freeze’ for this ten-day period, so that through Jay Hynes wonderful photography we can revisit the success of CherryFest through a unique and beautiful art installation that truly embodies AC/DC Lane, by creatively examining and showcasing up-and-coming music artists who have played live here and continue to learn that "It’s A Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock n Roll.”
