Whilst cliff surfing, undercover were fortunate to catch up with the one and only Elliot The Bull for a Q & A about all things Elliot'ish and Bull'ish. Some of their answers may shock you.
Undercover- Would you rather punters download your music for free illegally so as to gain more exposure, or would you prefer to only support legal downloading/ streaming services, that may not give you as much exposure but a teeny tiny bit of money?
Elliot The Bull - It's not a big deal if people want to download it for free, but at the same time every little bit helps. It'd probably be difficult to find torrents of smaller bands anyway. Services like Bandcamp are cool though because you can stream the music for free and if you like it, you can buy it, with the option of paying whatever price you like.
Undercover- First album you purchased?
Jared: The Offspring - Americana
Milan: The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation
Jake: The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium
Simon: Green Day - Dookie
Undercover - The joys of touring .....Discuss...
Elliot The Bull - The best crowds we've experienced so far were definitely the festivals we played in China, not only the number of people but their energy and response too. Our best horror story is that Jake breaks at least one acoustic guitar string every practice and show haha. Best feel good story would just be hearing our songs on the radio for the first time. We haven't broken down yet but while we were in China we had a lot of very long train rides between shows with all of our gear, one of them was completely packed and our seats were taken by some farmers and their chickens, we had to stand for 6hrs while everyone on the carriage silently stared at us... it was pretty awkward.
Undercover - Career highlight thus far?
Elliot The Bull -Definitely our recent China tour, we played 9 shows over 12 days, 2 of them were festivals where we played in front of thousands of people.
Undercover - Future plans?
Elliot The Bull -Once we finish this tour we plan on hitting the studio pretty quickly for our next release, we've written a few songs already so we're half way there.
(They have already released a pretty tops E.P this year, check out the review here)
Undercover - Five fun things to do on the Central Coast of NSW.....Do you still have the Sarah Lee Factory selling super cheap cakes? I think it was around Wyoming or Lisarow?
Elliot The Bull - Haha yeah I think we all must have gone there at some point as kids, not sure if it's still exists though, assuming that that it does then the only 5 things to do on the coast are:
1. Visiting the Sarah Lee factory
2. Playing footy
3. Surfing
4. Getting in fights at the pub
5. Music ( We figured out early on that we're no. 5 kind of guys.)
Undercover - Why Elliot The Bull?
Elliot The Bull - Well this weeks story is that our drummer Milan's family over in Serbia have a bull that's named Elliot, Milan is quite fond of him and visits regularly.
