Okay, so I'll tell you why... A a collective of creative activists will flash-mob at Melbourne's Flinders St Station as part of an international day of action for imprisoned Russian feminist-punk group Pussy Riot.
Flash mobs are fun and if they are well done you could even call them spectacular. Although it's not all about beer and skittles and being entertained....
"This event is about raising awareness about Pussy Riot's plight and the issues they represent: freedom of speech, freedom of artists, feminism, political power, punk rock and more. This event is about all it," says event organiser Alex Desebrock of Arts x Activism.
The international day of action coincides with the result of trio's appeal against 'hooliganism charges' and a two-year prison sentence for the punk prayer they performed in a Moscow cathedral earlier this
year. Melbourne will be among dozens of cities worldwide that will participate in the action—from New
York to Paris to Moscow. It is the culmination of months of protests
