American politicans can't seem to get enough of the inappropriate use of musical material whilst campaigning.
There is the famous Reagan blunder of using Springsteens contemptful "Born in The U.S.A" mistakingly as a patriotic call to the masses and now the Democratic National Convention has been caught playing convicted pedophile Gary Glitter's 1972 chartbuster "Rock and Roll, Part 2," also known as the "Hey Song" as a soundtrack to speeches made by ex- employees of Bain Capital that focused on how Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is "making money without a moral compass ".
According to the guidelines of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Glitter should be compensated for the use of his song at the convention.
Glitter was convicted of the sexual abuse of two girls aged 10 and 11 by a Vietnamese court in 2006, just seven years after he was convicted in the U.K of possessing child pornography.
Thus far spokespeople for the Democratic convention and ASCAP have not responded to requests for comment.
